The Cormorant is a bird that is easily and readily recognised. It has a long neck and is often seen standing with its head and neck stretched up and its wings held out wide, catching the warm drying sun. Due to its black feathers, some people say that the cormorant is sinister.
There is a history of boat building in Faversham and Oare Creeks - at high tide both creeks can be navigated. Oare Creek runs from the edge of the reserve, inland to Oare village.
