The White One Sugar contemporary poster style was inspired by railway companies that used artists to produce works of art, in the mid 20th century, for their advertising posters. The designs varied between illustrators, companies and the period in which they were created. Our modern images also have different styles, some being a copy of what is in the location and others bringing landmarks together in one picture. Drawn on computer, these images are more what would normally be produced by a graphic designer rather than an artist. We now have more traditional designs in our gallery as well as contemporary ones.
A great deal of artistic knowledge is needed as well as design skill in painting the many shapes and light effects.
Kent is the main area that we have drawn in our poster series but we are now starting to travel further afield.
On the 1st June we will be back in Whitefriers Square, Canterbury most Saturdays until October.

A Shade of Britain
A series of pencil drawings covering a large part of Kent including Castles and Wedding Venues
There are over four hundred pictures of Kent in the other series produced by Nigel Wallace. The first were the pencil drawings in ‘A Shade of Britain’ covering Kent towns and other subjects. He then went on to produce many photographs of the surrounding towns and countryside both as prints and on canvas.

Karen came up with the idea because it’s how she takes her tea. It seems to make people smile when we say what it means. Maybe we will open a chain of tea or coffee shops one day!!
